About Us

The Oasis Teen Café is a not-for-profit hangout for teens. We provide a beneficial and safe “hang-out” environment where teens can feel welcome and important. We are not a youth group or a club; we aim to be a service to the teens of the Englehart area by giving them a constructive atmosphere  of their own, with positive role-models in order to combat the rise in negative activities. (vandalism, substance abuse, cutting, etc.

What Is The Need?

This generation of teens have many things pulling for their attention some not as healthy as others. Englehart has seen the effects of bored youth (vandalism, break and entry etc.)
We want to give them options of having fun but staying safe.
According to The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH),  Drug use in northern Ontario is above the provincial average for many different illicit substances. The drug use statistics for Grades 7 to 12 for 2005 states that over 29% of teens had used illicit drugs.

About Our Staff

Justin Boulianne: (First Aid Certified)
Justin has worked with teens since he was 17 as a paid youth leader, planning activities, trips and local events. He is experienced with technology and is a gifted musician. Justin has taught a few young musicians from Englehart and plans on teaching more.  In  early 2007, he resigned as a temporary supervisor at NuComm International in order to pursue his passion in working with teens and managing the Café.
Justin was born and raised in Englehart and although he has not encountered any struggles out of the ordinary throughout his life, he is kind and compassionate to those around him. Justin enjoys a good joke and likes to think he is funny. He is also very excited about The Oasis Teen Café endeavor.

Heidi Boulianne: (First Aid Cirtified)
Heidi  has worked alongside her husband Justin in youth outreach since they got married in 2002. Heidi has organized local activities and functions. While Justin was employed at NuComm, Heidi was the main delegator and organizer of The Oasis Teen Café. Heidi is also musically talented and loves their three beautiful girls.
Heidi has had somewhat of a rougher road to walk. Her family has suffered through divorce and she understands the pain involved. As a teen she was incredibly shy with low self-esteem. Heidi has learned to overcome many other obstacles, the hardest being the death of her older sister by an ecstasy overdose in 2000. Her life experience enables her to relate to others going through devastating circumstances, and she enjoys helping struggling teens.

Luc Hamelin:
Luc is not with us anymore.

Luc is still Cool. We miss Luc.

About Our Volunteers

We have a number of volunteers here at The Oasis Teen Café. Their main responsibilities include setup of the Café, running the canteen, being a peer role model, and providing adult supervision for insurance purposes. They all do excellent jobs and we are very pleased with them. All of our volunteers are required to complete a criminal record check and adhere to "Plan To Protect"; our guide to providing a safe environment for students and adults.
